Integrity and signatures

After you save the EXE, compute SHA256 locally and confirm it matches the hash on this page. Matching hashes reduce the risk of a truncated or substituted installer. Keep the installer out of shared temp folders if your institution scans downloads.

Antivirus false positives

Large academic installers are sometimes flagged heuristically before reputation catches up. If Windows Defender or another scanner warns you:

  1. Confirm the SHA256 first.
  2. Submit the file to your scanner vendor if your IT team allows.
  3. Do not disable protection permanently for unrelated downloads.
